Nougat Tweaks And Customizations

Among other devices, the Android Nougat has made its way into the best branded Android tablets. Nougat upgrades the Marshmallow experience with improved customization and better UI. Even a refurbished tablet user would welcome the Android Nougat soon enough, especially when the rebranded Nougat tablets hit the stores. In the meantime, you could do the below tweaks in your Android device running on stock Android Nougat for even better performance.

Screen Size and Widget Tweaks

Go to the Display Settings in the notifications panel, tap on the Display Size, and move the slider until the widgets are viewable to the naked eye. You would have the minimum to maximum sizes prefixed in the slider, so if your need is to reduce the screen size, you could very well do that as well through the Display Settings in your Android tablet.

System Tuner UI

Firstly, go to Settings > About Tablet and enable the Developer Settings and then go to the Quick Setting and then long press the cogwheel next to the battery icon to activate System Tuner User Interface in Nougat 7.1.1. Once activated, you could get to see newer options in the Settings such as Show/Hide Battery Percentage.

Native File Explorer

Much like the file manager in previous Android versions or as in the iOS, the Native File Explorer lets view folders, open containing files, and delete or share the files. Go to Settings > Storage & USB and tap on Explore at the bottom of your tablet screen to access the whole new file explorer on Android Nougat.

Shortcuts to Applications

App shortcut tweak is available to all Android users and one could easily access shortcuts to applications by tapping and holding the home screen. Make sure you drag the right widgets to the app drawer in the home screen and try dragging the drawer from bottom to top to see all of the applications at once in Nougat 7.1.1.

Choose Default Applications

To do this tweak, tablet users should have Android Marshmallow or later in their respective tablet. Android Nougat also lets users choose default applications like the previous version of Android. In fact, go to Settings > Apps, touch the cogwheel at the top of your tablet’s screen, and navigate to Default option within the Configure Apps section in Nougat 7.1.1 to custom-select default apps.
